The Asus M530w is a smartphone that has a look that lies somewhere between a BlackBerry and a Treo. Measuring in at 117 x 65 x 13.8 mm and weighing 135 grams, the M530w fits comfortably in the hand. The M530w has a 2.4 inch TFT screen, with a 320 x 240 pixel resolution. It can display over 65,000 colors to please your eye. The M530w has a 2 Megapixel camera with an Auto-Macro function and video capture. There’s a secondary VGA camera as well for video conferencing and self portraits. You can record and playback video in H.263 and MPEG4 formats, as well as share them wirelessly with MMS messaging or through email. You can also transfer pics and videos to your PC.

The M530w comes with 64 MB of RAM and 256 MB of flash ROM, and can be expanded through the use of its microSD card slot. It’s powered by a fast and efficient 416 MHz Marvell PXA270 processor. 416 MHz should keep you moving along at a decent rate, as long as you don’t intend on running multiple processor intensive apps.

The M530w runs on Tri Band GSM and Single Band UMTS frequencies and can transmit data across GPRS, EDGE and high speed HSDPA enabled networks. Its battery life is rated as having a talk time of up to 5 hours and a standby by time of 250 hours which is pretty good.

This device has a large amount of connectivity features, so you’ll never be stuck without access to your PC, other devices or networks. The M530w comes with native Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 (with A2DP profile) and USB support. For those that don’t know, the A2DP profile is necessary for connection Bluetooth powered stereo headsets.

The M530w, through the use of its built in Window's Mobile Media Player can playback various audio types, including MP3, WMA, AAC, Midi, and WMV files. It can playback video in several different file formats as well. You can take all of your favorite songs and video files and clips with you wherever you go. It plays back Polyphonic (64 channels), MP3, WMA, AAC, Midi, and WMV ring tones as well.

As the M530w is a Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 Standard powered smartphone, it comes with a full suite of productivity software bundles. You can view all of the popular Office document types including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF (view only) files with the ClearVue Document Viewer. It also has full email capabilities including Outlook synchronization and Microsoft Push Email technology. It supports POP3 and IMAP4 HTML based email clients. It supports SMS and MMS mobile messaging, and it also fully supports various instant messaging clients including MSN Live Messenger.

The M530w has the capability to display WAP 2.0 and HTML pages through its web browser. All of the basic PIM features are there such as calendar, games (java), address book, scheduler, voice memo, file manager, to do list, messages, etc. As usual, there is much more to this device than there is space to fit.
